The investigation into the alleged disappearance of important government files has gained further attention after former IAS officer and politician V.K. Pandian informed the police that he would not be able to appear in person in response to a summons issued by the Capital Police in Bhubaneswar.
According to official information, Pandian has communicated through email that he is currently abroad and is therefore unable to attend the scheduled appearance. In his communication, he requested that his statement be recorded through video conferencing if permitted. He also assured investigators that, if a virtual appearance is not feasible, he would cooperate with the investigation and appear before the authorities after returning to India.
The case relates to the alleged disappearance of two important files from the Chief Minister’s Office, reportedly connected to the Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati murder case and the SUM Hospital fire incident. Following the allegations, the police launched an investigation and issued a notice asking Pandian to appear before investigators.
Earlier, notices had also been served to two senior administrative officers in connection with the same investigation. However, both reportedly sought exemption from appearing on the scheduled date, citing health-related reasons.
The Odisha Police have stated that the matter is being treated with seriousness, considering the significance of the missing government records. Investigators are examining all available evidence and are expected to continue the inquiry in accordance with legal procedures.
Attention is now focused on the police’s response to Pandian’s request for a virtual appearance and the next steps in the ongoing investigation. As the probe progresses, further developments are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding the missing files.
